In the past 40 years, my Dad and I have built or remodeled hundreds of homes in Blair & Centre counties.

My Dad talks all the time about how great the improvements over the years have been in new construction materials and procedures.

Our goal with every client is to be efficient and solution oriented, and maintaining at all times the quality of the final project. We strive to be attentive to client needs and go the extra steps necessary to plan a project and meet when needed. Making time to meet and plan is ultimately important to us.

Our interior design client consultant, Adam, assists clients with interior design and ultimately assists them in selecting several phases involved with the project including room layout, flooring choices and overall interior design. Choices such as paint colors and interior design schemes are made easy. During several of our projects, Adam takes care in finding vintage decorating items and antiques to make a new home or home makeover feel unique.

What started out as a simple bathroom update for the John & Kim Beyer family of Hollidaysburg became a much larger project. After waiting years to find the right contractor to take on their project, the Beyer’s were referred through friend’s to Aspen Ridge Homes, located in Hollidaysburg. Dave Albright, owner, met with the Beyer’s to discuss their project and began designing, planning and estimating the costs of the changes they wanted to make to their home. The first project was updating the kitchen & bathrooms.

As more area’s were completed, the Beyer’s made the decision to replace all the windows which were outdated and inefficient both energy-wise and functionally. They replaced the existing windows with ANDERSON WINDOW DESIGNER series windows that are very energy efficient. The windows even qualified for a tax credit that offset some of the costs to replace.

After the windows were replaced, they updated the siding. Prior to removing all the existing siding, Mr. Albright inspected the exterior wall sheathing to make sure there was adequate insulation. In the Beyer’s case, they were properly insulated except for their attic which had a minimal amount, and caused some inefficiency with their heating and cooling. The insulation was replaced to an R Value of 30 which has really increased the energy efficiency of the house.

“Its very important to check these older homes for wall and ceiling insulation. Even homes built within the last 30 years can be lacking proper insulation values. One of our recent clients discovered that 90% of their exterior walls had NO insulation. Why? We can only speculate since the construction took place over 30 years ago. Now that the home is properly insulated, the client has seen an enormous savings in both heating AND cooling” (Dave Albright)

QUEST Vinyl siding was installed on the exterior. In addition to the Premium siding installation, Dave Albright (Aspen Ridge Homes) suggested some exterior stone veneer be used on portions of the exterior, in addition to the interior. Several interior walls & the fireplace had a stone veneer installed.

“Stone veneer has become very popular in the last few years. We have seen an big change from brick. It’s a great look on the inside (kitchen back splashes, fireplaces, decorative walls) and the outside (porches, fronts of homes or garage).” (Dave Albright)

Kim Beyer comments “We were looking for something unique to change up the outside of our home to give it a rustic look. The stone veneer and stone around the new porch columns gave us exactly the look we wanted”. (Kim Beyer) “Dave Albright & his guys at Aspen Ridge Homes were amazing with giving us ideas and suggestions.”

In addition to the major exterior changes, the interior changes were just as dramatic.

“We updated the bathrooms, removed carpet and re-finished hardwood flooring. One of the bathrooms was totally renovated and in its place was a new custom built vanity with a copper vessel sink and through-the-wall faucet. Granite counters were installed in this bathroom as well.”

Other phases of the project were new closets, interior doors, and some interior design.

“We cover all phases of a home project. We build new homes and remodel and update older homes. Energy efficiency, in addition to appearance, is one of the main priorities in updating exteriors. Our team covers all the bases of construction: Planning, Design, and Implementation. We have experience building houses all over Central PA, large and small projects. We love what we do and we like to think our clients appreciate that and see it in the final result” (Dave Albright)
